2018 Inspirational Student Stories Contest
Nominate an inspirational J by 6 student

Dear Kumon Parent,

As you may know, students who reach “J by 6” are well on their way to program completion and well prepared for high-school material. Has your child reached Level J in the Kumon Math or Reading Program by the 6th grade and now on track to completing, or already completed, the program? We would love to hear about your child’s remarkable Kumon journey.

Tell us how your child’s Kumon experience has contributed to amazing things he or she is doing inside or outside of school. Finalists will be featured in brand new Kumon student success videos and qualify for an all-expenses paid trip to Calgary, Canada!

Last year, Tiffany Lee from our centre won the contest and was selected as the student speaker at 2017 Kumon Instructor Conference in Orlando, Florida. Merely 15 year old, Tiffany inspired thousands Kumon instructors with the account of her Kumon journey. It could be your child this year!

Tiffany has kindly agreed to share her entry with us:

Here once was a girl named Tiffany
Who managed to finish level J unconditionally
She was only in grade six
With many mistakes to fix
But that didn't stop her from keeping her consistency
It sure wasn't an easy achievement
Since it required a lot of commitment
But she fought through her stress
And was brought great success
Because now her work habits are better than decent
Even though the experience was challenging
And she found the work very maddening
She learned how to calm down
And to erase her frown
Since there was no way she's abandoning
She learned how to solve problems on her own
Even without having to check her phone
She can rely on herself
And nobody else
It's a good skill to have when she's working alone
She even started reading more novels
Due to all the excerpts used as models
From Pride and Prejudice
To many crazy nemesis
She has discovered a new hobbie that's far from awful
Now after almost two full years
She can write English essays without any fears
All the practice
Prepared her for this
She can complete essays without shedding tears
With all the challenging work at a young age
She's learned to not let the stress turn into rage
It took a lot of control
To finally reach her goal
But she still managed to turn every page
She learned to manage her stress and time
After a long and heavy climb
She will continue to succeed
No matter how much she bleeds
And now this is the end of the rhyme
